It's always been a lifelong ambition of John Bailey's to explore the mysteries of the majestic Thames weir pools. In the old days, gentry would hire 'Professionals' to guide them along the river in search of angling utopia. Sometimes referred to as gillies, now just plain 'river guides', Roger Wyndham Barnes is one of a select few remaining and he takes obvious pleasure in escorting John to a number of weir pools on the Thames near Marlow regaling him with stories of yesteryear along the way.
